Over the Christmas/Winter Holidays, students can work on the following: READING - Continue reading for at least 30 minutes each day. Find a good book, curl up on a comfy chair and enjoy some time in another place. If you need to get reading materials, the Calgary Public Library is a great place to go. Library cards are free (calgarylibrary.ca/your-library/join/). MATH (Prodigy) - Students can go online (play.prodigygame.com/) and keep their "Math Brains" pliable by playing at least 15 - 30 minutes every couple of days. You can also keep up with your basic addition/subtraction/multiplication/division facts by playing the games on our Grade 4 Resources page. SCIENCE (Plant Presentations) - If students have not completed their Plant Presentation Google Slides, this is to be completed by Monday, January 6. Presentations will begin on Tuesday, January 7 (See schedule below). (Waste and Our World) - Please complete the attached sheet (packing_checklist.pdf) over the holidays. It has to do with packaging and we will be using the information in January. The sheet is due Monday, January 6. COMING JANUARY 2020... We will be starting a new unit in Science (Waste and Our World) while continuing work with Geometry (Math) and First Nations Legend shadow puppet plays (Social Studies/Language Arts). Report cards will be sent out on January 30, 2020. To everyone who gave me a Christmas gift. The thought was very much appreciated and enjoyed. I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas / Happy Holidays and safe New Year. Looking forward to seeing everyone in January. Ms. Behl WHAT WE DID TODAY...

Geometry is an important part of a student's mathematical experience. People with a deep understanding of geometry and good spatial sense will be able to describe the world around them and appreciate the geometry found in art, nature, and architecture. Here are some suggestions for activities you can do with your child:
If you have any questions, or would like more information, go to "RESOURCES (Gr. 4)" and click on Unit 6: Geometry in the Math Makes Sense 4 textbook. We will be spending some time on Monday, December 9, decorating our desktops for the holiday season. Students are asked to bring in wrapping paper (50 cm x 60 cm) that will cover the top of a student's desk. Other decorations can be brought in as well. It's time to be creative and have some fun!
